Restaurant Renommė at the Galley Park Hotel & SPA

Gastronomic Latvian cuisine is what you get at Renomme, the award-winning restaurant at the Gallery Park Hotel SPA. With traditional dishes made with modern techniques, Renomme is one of the best places to experience contemporary Latvian cuisine.My friend and I enjoyed lunch on a weekday afternoon, and she suggested we try their classics to truly taste what they have to offer. The restaurant design has a luxurious interior design of a XIX century mansion and palatial ambiance befitting its address.We shared the starters, each delicious in their own way. My friend loved the Baltic fish tapas, as it was great selection of delicate meat and sauces. The Baltic herring in a new coat was fantastic, with a beautiful new display of a Latvian classic.For my main dish, I chose the filet of duck breast with orange marmelade and fennel . The skin was perfectly crispy while the filet melted in my mouth, the mix of complimentary textures was delightful. My friend opted for the slowly cooked salmon with lentils ratatouille, and she was absolutely delighted with her choice.For dessert, we just had to try the Latvian rye bread tiramisu with mascarpone, as bread in Latvia is some of the best in the world. We also loved the real chocolate cake, just the right amount of density and chocolate flavour.It was a great lunch at Renomme, this was a meal we will never forget.

Excentric restaurant. Prices way too high for what you get. Food was either too salty or too simple (deepfried chicken pieces in KFC style for ~ 20 euros? For Riga that is too much considering how many nice and reasonably priced restaurants there are). And wines double the normal price. Otherwise gloomy atmosphere and one of the rooms smells like an old pub because of old cigarette smell which still persists in the old leather seats.
